Argentina

Argentina is a large South American country famous for its diverse landscapes, rich culture, and world-class tourist attractions, neighbouring countries being Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay to the north, Uruguay to the north east and Chile to the west. In the east Argentina has a long South Atlantic Ocean coastline.

My Trips

• 2019 November 13 (Day Visit): During our Brazil Peru Tour, we entered Argentina by road from Brazil through the town of Puerto Iguazu near Foz de Iguacu (Iguazu water falls) in Brazil. We entered the country and town but couldn't proceed further due to visa restrictions.
• 2025 November 28 to December 19 (22 Days): For my Antarctica Expedition, I travelled from Doha, Qatar with friends to Buenos Aires, Argentina via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and spent few days exploring Argentina before joining our Antarctica tour group. With them, we flew to Ushuaia, the southern most city in Argentina from where the Antarctica Expedition started. After that, we came back to Ushuaia and Buenos Aires for more sight seeing before our return to Qatar.

  • Obelisco: A national historic monument and icon of Buenos Aires. Located in the Plaza de la , the reinforced concrete structure was erected in 1936 to commemorate the quadricentennial of the first foundation of the city.
  • Plaza del Congreso: Opened for the 100th anniversary of the revolution, this square contains lavish carved fountains.
  • Plaza de Mayo: City square named after 1810 revolution that took place here, leading to Argentina's independence.
  • Puente de la Mujer: The 160m-long pedestrian suspension swing bridge was designed by architect Santiago Calatrava.
  • Costanera Sur: Water front park located in the Puerto Madero neighborhood.
  • Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento: Extravagant Catholic church built in 1916, with Romanesque & Gothic elements & 5 towers.
  • Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral: Catholic Church's main site in Argentina, and is where Pope Francis, as Archbishop Jorge Bergoglio, used to perform mass before assuming office in the Vatican in 2013.

  • Ushuaia City: Ushuaia, known as the "End of the World," features stunning natural landscapes, historic sites, and iconic landmarks at the southern tip of Argentina.
  • Martial Glacier: The Martial Glacier is a stunning mountain destination located just 7 kilometers above the city of Ushuaia, Argentina, offering panoramic views of the city and the Beagle Channel.
  • Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego: Tierra del Fuego National Park, the only Argentinean national park that combines forests, mountains, rivers and sea coasts on the Beagle Channel bordering Chile.
  • Fin de la Ruta Nacional 3: End of the world, The end of National Route 3, final point of the legendary 3,067-kilometer highway (and the southern end of the Pan-American Highway).
  • Unidad Postal Fin del Mundo: Post Office at the End of the World.
  • El Tren del Fin del Mundo: The Southern Fuegian Railway ("Train of the End of the World"), World's "last" or southernmost operating railway station.

Day Plans

Day 01: November 28, 2025
Started from Doha, Qatar via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Sao Paulo, Brazil and arrived in Buenos Aires, Argentina after more than 16 hours of long and tiring flight with Ethiopian Airlines. Immigration had a long queue and the officer asked for only hotel booking. Took Uber taxi to our hotel in the city center and reached there by midnight.

Day 02: November 29, 2025
After breakfast from hotel, walked around the Buenos Aires city central areas. It was cloudy and cold and after a while started raining. Had lunch and got back to room and caught up on our sleep.

Day 03: November 30, 2025
Rain was forecasted for today as well and it was cloudy since early morning. We started walking around the Buenos Aires city blocks visiting major Spanish colonial era plazas and buildings. Went to La Boca neighborhood, with colorful houses and the famous birthplace of Tango dance and home of Maradona's football club Boca Juniors to have an Argentinian lunch of Asado Banderita (roasted prime ribs). Settled back in the room when rain started in the evening.

Day 04: December 01, 2025
Weather is finally clear and sunny. Spent a day in a remote ranch in San Antonio de Areco enjoying their traditional food, folk music and horse riding.

Day 05: December 02, 2025
Tried metro and train and went to Tigre, a river side city 30 kms away from Buenos Aires. Took a ride in a boat through the Paraná Delta and returned to Buenos Aires by afternoon.

Day 06: December 03, 2025
After another round of Buenos Aires city exploration, we joined the tour group from Kochi at night at a hotel near airport and had dinner with them.

Day 07: December 04, 2025
Went to Ushuaia, the southern most city in the world with the tour group from Kochi. Few of us, went for a 10 kms hiking trip to a glacier base on a mountain peak. Tomorrow, we will start our Antarctica cruise from the Ushuaia port.

Day 08: December 05, 2025
Visited few interesting places in Ushuaia: Tierra del Fuego national park with wild horses and birds; End of the world, which is the end point of the pan American highway that starts from Alaska in USA; World's last post office; and world's "last" or southernmost operating railway station.

Day 08 to 20: December 05 to 16 (12 days), 2025
Afternoon, we boarded the Ocean Victory cruise ship for our Antarctica Expedition and it left the Ushuaia port before 6 PM. We landed in few islands and different places in mainland Antarctica after crossing the dreaded Drake Passage. Saw hundreds of wildlife including different species of penguins, whales, seals and sea birds. Crossed the Antarctic circle, watched the midnight sun, plunged in the ice cold Antarctic waters, did Snowshoeing through snow hills and did Kayaking between the floating icebergs.

Day 20: December 16, 2025
Antarctica Expedition completed, Ship reached back in Ushuaia, Did a city tour and shopping, and then took evening flight to Buenos Aires.

Day 21: December 17, 2025
Buenos Aires City Tour, Estancia Santa Susana ranch visit, Return flight from Buenos Aires, Argentina via Sao Paulo, brazil.

Day 22: December 18, 2025
Arrival in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Onward flight to Doha, Qatar.

Day 23: December 19, 2025
Arrival in Doha, Qatar
